If you are looking for a truly unusual AI companion, Xotic AI offers a blend of video and image generation that genuinely sets it apart. It also has the fewest stars of any app I have reviewed on this site, and those two facts are related. Here is the honest verdict.
What Xotic AI is
Xotic AI is an AI companion app built around multimedia rather than conversation. The standout feature is video generation, which almost nothing else in this category does properly. It also generates images and offers live calling, so the pitch is a companion you can see and hear rather than only read.
That is a real differentiator. It is also the whole case for the app, which is the problem. Strip out the video and what is left sits below most of the field on every axis I measure.
How I tested it
Same routine as everything else here. Real paid account, more than a week of use, then the standard checks: conversation quality over a long session, memory across days, what it actually costs once you use it as intended, and how the company handles your data.
For a video-led app I spent most of the testing on generation specifically. How long it takes, how often the output is usable, whether it reflects what you asked for, and whether the feature fits into a conversation or sits beside it.
Conversation quality
Reasonable, and no better than that. Responses are coherent and it follows context well enough that chatting does not feel robotic in the way the cheapest apps do. It holds a thread.
Where it comes apart is anything with nuance. Push into a topic that needs more than surface handling and it gets awkward, producing text that is grammatically fine and substantively empty. It also has a habit of steering back toward its own features, which breaks the illusion faster than a bad sentence does.
Scored on its own, the chat would sit near the bottom of my ranked list. If conversation is what you want from a companion app, stop reading and go look at Nomi or Kindroid instead.
Video and image generation, which is the point
This is where Xotic AI earns its place. The video generation produces output with a genuinely surprising level of detail, and there is nothing quite like watching a scene you described actually move. Image quality is good too, though the images are less remarkable because plenty of apps do images well now.
Two honest caveats. Generation is slow, sometimes slow enough that you stop waiting and go do something else, which means it is not a feature that lives inside a conversation the way in-chat images do on other apps. And the hit rate is inconsistent. You will regenerate. Budget for that both in time and in whatever the generation costs you.
Memory
The weakest part of the product, and I gave it three and a half stars for a reason. It does not carry much between sessions. Tell it something meaningful about yourself and expect to tell it again. Within a single conversation it is fine, but the sense of a companion who knows you, which is the reason most people use these apps at all, never develops.

Pricing, and where the money goes

What will not change is the shape of the cost. The subscription gets you in. The video generation, which is the only reason to be here, is what you actually pay for, and because the hit rate is inconsistent you pay for failed attempts too. Work out what a month of realistic use costs before subscribing rather than after, and compare that number against a flat-rate app that does more of what you want.
Privacy
Decent but not reassuring. Like every app here it collects data to improve its models, which is normal. What is less normal is how vague the documentation is about what happens to that data afterwards. I scored privacy 6.5, the lowest on this site, mostly for that lack of clarity rather than for anything specific it does.

- Generate a video first. Not a chat, not an image. It is the only reason to be here, so find out immediately whether the output is worth the wait.
- Time it, and count the retries. Three usable clips out of how many attempts? That ratio is your real cost.
- Test the memory the next day. Reference something specific from yesterday and see what comes back.
- Read the payment descriptor before the first charge lands.

- You specifically want AI-generated video and accept a thin chat around it: this is one of the few options.

Xotic AI is an intriguing app with one real strength and several genuine weaknesses. The video generation is impressive and rare.
